Thank you for the compliments and comments Jamie. We are really happy with the results of our training efforts and feel very fortunate to have found books, trainers and helpers that advocated the primary use of positive reinforcement in the sport of Schutzhund. Although our site does not advocate the use of compulsion as a way to motivate the dog; there are many trainers who use correction training fairly and without harm to their dogs. We have eliminated compulsion training as a motivational tool; simply because, we have found other ways that give us the results we want to see in the dog. We also like the way the dogs show happier and more confident behaviors through positive reinforcement training. Check out this article on how a police department has adopted positive reinforcement for their K-9 training program. This is yet another affirmation that behavior shaping works for training real working dogs, even in protection. http://germanshepherdk9.com/uploads/wdj_feb11.pdf

Nice website, you have done a great job with your dogs. I especially liked your training page. It is fantastic to read your philosophy on balanced training. Sadly too many in our sport want to dominate and beat thier dogs into submission. Well written article!
